While visiting my son's family in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho I longed for some good Chinese food. Hard to find since there aren't too many Chinese restaurants in the area. We've been to a couple suggested places but we never quite liked it. So I asked for a suggestion from my private Facebook group. So glad I did because someone suggested this place. I realize it's catered to non-Asians and is basically the typical Chinese-American restaurant with the usual items such as fried rice, egg rolls, and chow mein. That's okay with me. Better than nothing! This one is as good as it gets for this area! Besides, my late father owned 2 Chinese-American restaurants in NY so I know what to expect. My husband & I were quite pleased with the server, Liz, who was very accommodating. She was the only waitress there that particular day so she worked very hard! The décor, ambiance, and booths reminded me of my father's restaurants in the 60's and 70's. Brought back fond memories. I liked my first appetizer dish which were the fried dumplings and my husband liked his wonton soup. Heard about the chef who was a good cook but he wasn't around as he only worked weekends and we were there on a weeknight. All in all, I was quite satisfied with the meal and we ordered a lot since we wanted to sample a variety of dishes. Except for the Egg Foo Young (one patty), the food plates were pretty big! Needless to say, the two of us couldn't finish all the food we ordered so we took home "doggie bags" for my son's family. Even my daughter-in-law's sister said the takeout food had "more flavor" than the one we usually go to in Coeur d'Alene! This Chinese restaurant in Spokane will be the one we intend to go to for Chinese food the next time we are in town which will probably be in December. Our son and his family live in Idaho now so we will be back to Chinese Gardens for sure (even though it's a half/hour away)

Moo Goo Gai Pan is excellent, full of fresh tender crisp veggies. Very flavorful sauce. Egg Foo Yong is your standard square fried patty with lots of filler to hold it together. Flavor & gravy was good though. Also, standard Almond Chicken was crispy with same gravy as Egg Foo Yong. Fried rice on meal was plain but moist. Overall, decent standard Americanized Chinese Food. I'm definitely going back for the Moo Goo Gai Pan. My friend really likes the Curry Chicken too.
